The need to pay our bills
We all have responsibilities in our lives. We need to love and take care of our families, to protect and provide for each other. We need to be respectful and responsible at our jobs. We need to remain current on our bills and obligations to which we have committed ourselves. And we need to be faithful and dedicated to our Lord and His biddings.
We at Maple Street United Methodist Church have committed ourselves to the Lord through the programs and missions we support. We all, through our various ministry teams and Administrative Council, havedecided that these programs are some of the ways that we can serve God. If the offerings collected each week do not meet the amount we have committed, we need to acquire revenue from other sources. This may be in the form of fund-raising events or special offerings. But more often the need to address our cash flow problems is immediate. We are often forced to borrow money to meet our obligations.
When we must borrow money to make up the shortfalls we encounter, we are force to pay a price. This comes in the form of interest charged to us when we borrow money. Any interest we must pay, no matter how small, is money we no longer have available to support Gods church.
We must all come together and commit ourselves to the obligations we have made. Every effort we all make in assuring we meet our monthly expenses will insure that all the money given to the church will go towards supporting God’s church. — MITCH NUSSER, chair of Finance Ministry Team
