The need to pay our bills

We all have responsibilities in our lives. We need to love and take care of our families, to protect and provide for each other. We need to be respectful and responsible at our jobs. We need to remain current on our bills and obligations to which we have committed ourselves. And we need to be faithful and dedicated to our Lord and His biddings.

We at Maple Street United Methodist Church have committed ourselves to the Lord through the programs and missions we support. We all, through our various ministry teams and Administrative Council, havedecided that these programs are some of the ways that we can serve God. If the offerings collected each week do not meet the amount we have committed, we need to acquire revenue from other sources. This may be in the form of fund-raising events or special offerings. But more often the need to address our cash flow problems is immediate. We are often forced to borrow money to meet our obligations.

When we must borrow money to make up the shortfalls we encounter, we are force to pay a price. This comes in the form of interest charged to us when we borrow money. Any interest we must pay, no matter how small, is money we no longer have available to support Gods church.

We must all come together and commit ourselves to the obligations we have made. Every effort we all make in assuring we meet our monthly expenses will insure that all the money given to the church will go towards supporting God’s church. — MITCH NUSSER, chair of Finance Ministry Team

Kroger Coupons Add $250

Our thanks to all members of the congregation who use the grocery coupons and the hard work of Bryan and Lisa DeLong. We once again reached the magic number of $5,000 worth of Kroger coupons purchased and received our $250 profit for the operating fund. Keep up the good work.

Acolyte Class being formed

A new acolyte class is being offered to all children 9 years and older. If you are interested in becoming an acolyte for Maple Street Church and have never taken the class, please see Marianne Jackson for more details.

Summer Music

A Big Thank You goes out to everyone who participated in our Summer Music Program. Everyone did such a great job and we really appreciate you sharing your time and talents with the Lord and his church. Without such loyal and dedicated people, a program like this could never be successful. God Bless! - Steve McGee, Director of Music

Blessing of Animals Service

Sampson, about 3 pounds of ferocious canine, is restrained by Pastor Don, while Jackie Hardman prays for him at the August 18 Blessing of the Animals Service. Sampson is head of the Bussart home (Joyce and Buzz). Below, Ms. Hardman, of the Fairfield County Humane Society and new president of the Wyandot Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association, blesses Danielle McBroom’s pet snake. Ms. Hardman gave an excellent talk about the role of Christian care giving for animals. In all, there were 25 animals which were blessed.

Adult Bible Study to Glean

Truths from Popular Show

Jed, Granny, Ellie Mae and Jethro will help the Adult Study on Spirit Wednesday understand biblical truth.

We will start with Volume 1, which discusses Blessings, Change, Truth and Motives. Volumes 2 and 3 will be studied later.

The Adult Study will be held off the sanctuary, beginning at 6:45 p.m., following the dinner being served each week at 6 p.m. Everyone welcome!
