About Our History

"I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me."

Who are we? People who believe in serving other people.


How have we served the community in the past?

 

In 1998 a medical missions team traveled to Nuevo Progreso, Mexico. Our mission provided medical care, baby bottles, children’s vitamins, through the .

   

January 7, 1998 Maple Street church began our first community kitchen lunch.

   

2001 volunteer from Maple Street answered call to provide assistance in New York as the news of the terrorist’s attacks on the World Trade center was heard.

   

As these economic times prove hard for people and as the unemployment rate grows within our community, volunteers from Local Social Concerns (community kitchen) team are feeding 60-100 people per week.

   

Youth volunteer their time walking and raise money for Crop Walk in an effort to eradicate hunger.

   

Mission minded person’s partner with Grace Children’s Hospital in Haiti, providing beds and much needed medication for the children and adults alike. Even in the brink of the devastating earth quake in Haiti, offerings are lifted and a volunteer from this church uses his gifts to aid families in Haiti, providing food, shelter, financial educational assistance and clothing.

 

 

Boy Scouts, Troop 106 partners with Maple Street serving the community a bountiful all you can eat, mouth-watering fish and chicken dinner.

 

 

In an effort to keep children safe during Halloween festivities, Maple Street will host their first Trunk or Treat community event. Volunteers from the church will decorate the trunk of their cars, fill the trunk with candy., and some wearing costumes
will provide a neighborhood Trunk or Treat experience.

 

Maple Street church has been faithfully serving the families in the Fairfield community for over 100 years and plan to do so for many more years to come.

Maple Street United Methodist Church
