MESSIAH: — Richard Wohigamuth, tenor; Janie Emrick, soprano; Karyn Schneider, alto, and Terry Emrick, bass Good Friday Walk ‘The Road to Calvary’ “Messiah” will invite the Maple Street Congregation to wall the "Road to Calvary" on Good Friday, April 18, at 7 p.m. Messiah begins the journey on “Ash Wednesday” and guides us through Good Friday. The one word most people, including many clergy, use to describe this service is “Powerful." During the Maundy Thursday portion, and a stop at the Upper Room, experience the Last Supper, which is served by the pastor. We then move to Good Friday, and Janie finally takes it to the Cross with Ray Boltz arrangement of "Watch the Lamb". This is a very dramatic presentation of one woman's observation, and first hand experience of what occurred that day on Calvary. We do not go beyond Good Friday, and leave everything at the Cross. We then present our closing arrangement of "Jesus Paid it All", then quietly leave so that the Pastor may give the Benediction. We ask that everyone leave the sanctuary in silence to meditate and reflect upon the sacrifice given that day on Calvary. The "Road to Calvary' presentation is not a concert, but a very straight forward, somber worship experience carefully designed to draw others to the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, and Death on a Cross, in a musical setting. |
Easter Worship: The Resurrection from A Jewish Perspective” will be “the sermon title Easter Morning, with the preacher being Howard Silverman. He is pastor of Beth Messiah Congregation in Columbus and is a field representative with the Christian Jew Foundation. Silverman also will teach a lesson to a combined group of the Junior-Senior High and all adult Sunday School classes. This session will be held in the Homebuilders’ room, so that space can be expanded. Silverman accepted Jesus as his Savior following his freshman year in college. Considering the current world situation, his presence with us makes for a great opportunity to learn more about historic events that date back centuries and are still being lived out. Maundy Thursday: A Seder Meal — traditional meal of the Jewish Passover — will be served by the Worship Team on April 17 at 7 p.m. It will include the symbolic elements of the meal Jesus ate with the disciples in the Upper Room the night he was betrayed by Judas. Please let us know if you will attend. Mission Trip on April 26 Maple Street will hold a special Fish Fry on April 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. Again, it’s all you can eat, with everything included. Adults $7; Children (under 12) $3. Proceeds will be used to underwrite a June interactive mission trip by a team from Maple Street Church. Chairing this event is Duane “Buzz” Bussart, and Mission Team members will help with the service. We have chicken breast strips for those who don’t like fish. Please plan to join us for this delicious and important Maple Street ministry.

![]() Winter Takes Huge Bite On Finances As we finally come out of one of the snowiest and coldest winter seasons in years, we are seeing how it has impacted our budget. Cold temperatures have led to higher heating bills and the snow had decreased our attendance even to the point of canceling church on one Sunday. While we can expect cold temperatures to increase our heating bills, we were not anticipating the low numbers in attendance to decrease our offerings. When we commit to our faith, we are committing to support our church in every way. While weather can keep us from attending the church for a service together, it should never keep us from our commitment to God. We must be true to our faith and responsible to our commitment to the church. —Mitch Nusser, Finance Team |
