‘Looking to the Future Survey’ Enclosed

What does the future hold for Maple Street? That’s one of the questions the Administrative Council hopes to begin to answer with help from a survey enclosed in this issue of The Maple Leaf. The questionnaire is inside an envelope, which is addressed to Maple Street.

Frank Melick said everyone completing the survey is asked to either bring the form to the church, where a basket will be placed to deposit them, or mail them in the envelope. Several survey forms may be mailed in a single envelope from a family, he said.

This month’s newsletter mailing list is expanded. Every full member of Maple Street should receive a copy of this issue. Active adult constituents ( non-members who attend regularly) also are asked to participate. Responses will be confidential, with only compiled data shared with the people.

The survey, Melick said, is the start of a serious look at where the people of Maple Street Church want their church to be in the next two, five, 10, 20 or even 50 years. Additional information will be provided in the next issue.

Youth Headed

To Oklahoma;

Meeting July 14

The youth are set again for Oklahoma, and a family meeting regarding the trip will be held Sunday, July 14 after worship service. All youth members going are expected to attend, with their respective families.

On board so far are: Danielle McBroom, Hillary Hopkins, Liz Hopkins, Jerry DeLong, Josh DeLong, Joe Nixon, Zach Chaffin, Amber Newman, Ashley Howard, and Matt Snider. The adults making the trip are Shawn Hinkle, Rick Snider, and Robin McBroom.

We set sail for Oklahoma on Saturday, July 20, about 7:00 - 7:30 a.m. following a hearty breakfast at the church. We will stay overnight in St. Louis, and maybe see a Cardinals ballgame. We will share the good news bright and early Sunday morning; stop for worship, and arrive in Tahlequah around 3:30 p.m.

We’ll work in Tahlequah through Thursday the 25th, sharing the Good News with our work and personal interaction with the kids at the Children’s Home.

We start home Friday morning the 26th, and visit the Golden Arch in St. Louis Friday evening. We plan to be home Saturday, July 27th about 4:30 p.m.           - Shawn Hinkle, Youth Coordinator

‘Prayer Cross’

For Children

"Pray for Our Children." That’s the message, and hope, of the "Prayer Cross,’ placed in the narthex. Melinda Noland (shown left) suggested that pictures of Maple Street children be made available so they would be kept in prayer. Please join in this ministry. Thanks to the Education Committee, Diane Combs, chair.

8-Week ‘Open Door’ Class Begins August 4

An eight-week ongoing ‘Open Door Class’ for exploring adult membership at Maple Street will begin August 4, during the 9 a.m. Sunday School hour. Topics will include: The Doctrine of Salvation, The Sacraments of the Church, United Methodist History, United Methodist Church Government, the Organizational Structure at Maple Street, Recognizing Spiritual Gifts, Discipleship and Membership. The class will be taught by Pastor Don and is open to anyone 16 years of age and up. Contact the church office for information and to register.

Thank You for all your prayers for my aunt Barbara Soaps and neighbor Jim Pickrel. - Ramona Frank

Dear Maple Street Members, Thank you for the Moments with Majesty gift certificate for high school graduation. Also, thank you for the engraved clock and the inspirational book that I was presented with on my last day as choir accompanist. It has been a pleasure playing for the congregation the last few years. Thank you for all your support. - Emily Mendell

Maple Street Congregation, Thank you for the cards, phone calls and prayers during my recovery. - Harold Mowery

Dear Friends, Thank you for your gift to The Foundation. We are grateful for your support. In His Name, - Ed Clum

Thank you to Brianna Phillips, she truly took the adoption of 8 year old Christopher Sorino of the Dominican Republic seriously. Before Easter she began working and saving, then on May 12 she brought her bank to Sunday School. What fun the 3-4 grade class had counting the $24.55. Pastor Don was so impressed with this, that his fund raiser at the Praise Service added another $19.00. Thanks to Brianna and friends almost 3 months of support was raised. Our pledge is $15.00 each month. Mrs. Parcels mission necklaces have been filling in the gaps.
