‘The Kings’ Coming To Maple Street

“The Kings” from Hocking County will appear in a special concert at Maple Street Church Sunday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m.

They also will sing for the regular 10:15 a.m. service that morning, according to Pastor Don.

The Kings are a talented family working for the Lord.   They are made up of  Sue and her gifted children, Sarah, 14, and Jonathan, 12.

You will not want to miss hearing their inspirational violin duets, beautiful three-part Southern and Country Gospel harmony, banjo picking and twin-fiddling’ Bluegrass Gospel and yodeling.

They have won several music awards, including “Instrumentalist of the Year for 2001 for the State of Ohio gospel music; first place as a group at Renfro Valley.  Sarah and Jonathan have each won numerous awards for their instrumental talents.

The Kings have appeared in numerous concerts across Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan.  They have sung in Arkansas, Maryland, North and South Carolina, West Virginia and Florida.  They also have appeared with several nationally-know individuals and groups, and have published six audio recordings and four video recordings in the last five years.

A love offering will be received, and everyone is welcome, according to Pastor Don.  That’s March 16 at 6:30 p.m. for a full concert, and at 10:15 a.m. for selected numbers.

Youth PreparingFor Toronto Mission In June

Your Maple Street Youth will be heading out for Toronto on Monday, June 23, 2003.  They will return on Saturday, June 28, 2003.  This will be the third annual mission trip for the Maple Street U.M.Y.F.  The youth will spend their time helping with the ministry of Kingsview Free Methodist Church.

Communication has been established with Associate Pastor Walter McIntyre at Kingsview.  The youth will be spending their nights in the dormitories at Tyndale Seminary College.  Pastor McIntyre states that the youth will be assisting their ministry outreach to the Somali refugees who live in the area.  The Maple Street youth will be playing basketball with the Somali children, as well as help them with their English skills.  The youth are also prepared to meet any other challenge the pastor may throw their way.

This trip is open only to those youth who are active in the youth program.  Active participation in the youth program consists of regularly attending youth meetings and outings.  The deadline to sign up for this trip is Sunday, March 1, 2003.

The youth will be busy planning for the trip, and fund-raising throughout the next couple of months.  They are very excited at the prospect of being able to travel to Toronto for such a worthy cause.  Any further word on the trip will be disclosed as the youth gathers such information.

— Shawn Hinkle, Youth Coordinator

Lent, Easter Work Keeps Music Teams Busy, Seeking Helpers

Heavenly Chimes  We are hoping to have our pictures for the directory taken Sunday March 2nd. Please wear your shirts! If you have promoted to youth fellowship and are no longer a member of the chim

e choir, please turn your shirt in so someone else can use it. Remember that rehearsals begin fifteen minutes after church lets out for a half hour. Please dedicate yourself to each rehearsal. Parents please help us with this! Thanks

Chancel Choir  We are currently preparing for Lent and Easter. If you have sung in the choir before or not please come and help us praise God through our Music this Lenten season. We need full participation! Plan to come and be richly Blessed. All that is needed to be part of our Music Ministry is a Love for the Lord, a sense of humor and a sincere desire to serve him. New members are always welcome any time during the year. Thanks and see you in choir!!  Ash Wednesday  The Chancel Choir will be participating in the Ash Wednesday service.  Bells of Praise  WE NEED RINGERS!!! If you would like to participate in this Music Ministry we practice on Thursday evenings at 6:30 in the sanctuary.

You do not have to read music to be part of this group but it helps. We have a lot of fun and at the same time we work very hard. We are a team and everyone tries to help each other. Please consider coming and serving the Lord through this ministry.  YOU WILL BE  BLESSED!!!

Who is She?

Well, no one called Butch Strawn, when his pictures were printed.  Guess the curls fooled them.  This pretty little girl is highly visible at Maple Street Church.  You can easily see why she was her Daddy’s delight.  Loves Dogs and loves doing things for others.  If you recognize her, say: “Hey, I know You!”
